Before Lakeview Terrace Resort became the peaceful getaway it is today, the land had a rich history deeply tied to the natural beauty and development of Lewiston Lake and the surrounding Trinity Alps region.

In the early days, the area where the resort now sits was part of a rugged and untamed wilderness, inhabited by Native American tribes who lived off the land, fishing the Trinity River and hunting in the dense forests. Later, during the Gold Rush of the mid-1800s, settlers and prospectors arrived, drawn by the promise of gold in nearby creeks and rivers. The small town of Lewiston grew as a result, becoming a key location for miners and homesteaders seeking new opportunities.

In the 1960s, a major transformation took place with the construction of Lewiston Dam, which created Lewiston Lake as part of the Trinity River Project.  Our famous quonset hut cabins were put here by the army core of engineers to house the workers building the dam.  The lake was designed to regulate water flow and provide hydroelectric power, but it also introduced new recreational opportunities, turning the area into a haven for fishing, boating, and outdoor activities.  Before becoming a resort the land was originally a gold and quartz mine with some of the original mines still viewable today!

Recognizing the area’s potential as a vacation destination, the property was eventually developed into a resort, offering cabins, RV spaces, and tent camping for visitors eager to experience the tranquility of Lewiston Lake.

Today, Lakeview Terrace Resort continues to embrace the spirit of adventure and relaxation that has drawn people to this area for generations. With its stunning lake views, abundant wildlife, and access to world-class fishing and outdoor recreation, it remains a cherished retreat for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
