Lost Mine Trail is a moderate-difficulty 4.8-mile out-and-back located in Big Bend National Park. This is a popular trail and is heavily trafficked during the park's peak season from Nov. 15-April 15.
The 1,100-foot elevation gain is accomplished through a series of switchbacks. There are a few sections of fairly steep climb on jagged rock. But overall this is a trail that could be accomplished by most.
This beautiful hike in the Chisos Mountains takes you through sections of forest before leveling out at the end of the ascent.
Views from the ridge are spectacular in all directions. Many hikers find this to be THE can't-miss trail of Big Bend.
